I Don’t Know, But We’ll Figure It Out

It seems like decisiveness is what we want most from leaders.

But I’d rather be honest. I believe a person can be a good leader while being honest about uncertainty.

“I’m not sure the right way to interpret this phrase.”

“I’m trying something new in planning this event. I don’t know if it’ll work.”

“I think the evening will happen like this, but I might be wrong.”

We’re taught to be declarative and certain in our communication as leaders. But if you’re secure in your competence, the better move as a leader is to be honest – I don’t know, but we’ll figure it out.
