I saw the following quote today from an inspiring musical leader and leadership consultant:
Who else feels they are going all the time trying to achieve at the highest level but then get home feeling exhausted and feeling like you still haven’t done enough?
Matthew Arau
For me, I identify with parts one through three but rarely struggle with part four.
- Going all the time
- Trying to achieve at the highest level
- Get home feeling exhausted
Feel like you still haven’t done enough
I think that one of the keys to making this work sustainable is to end each day proud of what you have accomplished. Tomorrow there will be more things to do, but if you can go to bed knowing you’ve done enough, then the exhaustion becomes affirming rather than debilitating, the achievement feels more rewarding, and the going feels invigorating.
How do you get there? I don’t know. I just know it’s better when you do.
