Focus on the parts of the job you love.
I’ve been saying for a long time that the best job in the world is 80% amazing. The other 20% is challenging – no matter how much you love the job.
Maybe the 20% is the hours. Maybe the 20% is the pay scale. Maybe it’s the staff meetings, or the commute time, or a specific colleague.
Whatever the 20% is, make sure you don’t let it become the focus of your thinking. Because every job will have some version of that 20%, and some jobs have a much lower amazing percentage.
The best job is 80% amazing. Focus on that, and accept the 20% as part of the price of getting to have your amazing job.
