The battles worth fighting can take a lifetime to complete. That means you’re going to be fighting the same battles the entire time, over and over again.
Battles of advocacy, battles for emotional well-being, righteous battles, battles against complacency. None of these are easily solved in a month, a year, or even a decade.
So you’d better choose the battles you want to fight carefully.
Is it worthy? Because in ten years, you’ll still be fighting it, and you’ll be a lot more tired.
Can you make headway? I’ll never not be profoundly introverted, but I have fought long battles to become more comfortable in the social and leadership positions I’m in.
Do you have someone else fighting it with you? If you’re not alone, you have someone to talk to when the battle seems impossible, and someone to celebrate with when you’ve made positive steps.
