What do you do every day?
It’s reassuring to me to have a list of things I do every day. It’s a way of checking in with myself to make sure I’m moving in the direction I want to be moving. Professionalism means doing the things you need to do, whether you feel like it or not.
There are the human things – drink water, brush teeth, make bed, take a walk.
There are the social things – connect with a friend, do a small kindness for someone, hug my kids.
There are the professional things – write something, create something, check in on my projects.
The list has to be short enough to feel attainable, and long enough to reflect what you want to have done by the end of the day.
Do I do every one of these things every day? No – sometimes I come up short on time or energy. But having the list keeps me honest.
