Dig Deep & Accept Fully

There are two truths about the art of moving through the world.

First: dig deep. Finding the grit and determination to finish what you start and go a little farther today than yesterday is magical. More than talent, more than luck, more than the people you meet – digging deep into your own willpower is a superpower. It can be practiced.

Second: accept fully. There are things you cannot change, that no determination can get you through. A 103° fever is not something you can use determination to power through. You can’t play hockey on a broken leg. There are hard limits to what we can do, and accepting them is the way to find peace with them. Then you can recover and begin again, or turn in a different direction if need be.

Without digging deep, acceptance is stagnation. Without acceptance, digging deep will eventually wear you out completely.

You need both.
