Do you feel down after a bad rehearsal?
A bad rehearsal might be unproductive, chaotic, poorly attended, un-prepared-for, or fractious in some way. There’s lots of ways for a rehearsal to go south.
But listen.
An hour spent making music – even unproductively, chaotically, or fractiously – is still better than an hour spent not making music. That’s what I remind myself after one of those rare “bad” rehearsals. It’s still better than the alternative.
Bad rehearsals are inevitable and often out of our control. The response is in our control.
