As you begin to build a new skill, you often hit a point where you feel like you’re getting worse. You feel as if things you once could do well, you no longer can. New materials take longer to learn, and you don’t seem to be able to reach the level of perfections you previously were able to reach.
You aren’t getting worse. Your insight is getting more acute.
You are able to differentiate better the infinite gradations between excellent and poor. You aren’t getting worse, you are getting better at assessing your own skills.
Honor that achievement, celebrate it, and understand that you’ll be able to use it, with practice, to keep getting better.
