I’ll stop when it’s time to stop.
My son asked me yesterday, “Will you ever quite writing every day?” And as a followup, “What if you run out of things to write about?”
The second question is easier – there will never be a shortage of things to write about regarding making music, and I don’t find it harder today than eight years ago to find some idea to share.
The first question isn’t much harder, though. I write because I derive value from expressing my ideas in words. I understand better my own viewpoint. That it reaches people and helps them solidify their own ideas (in agreement or in opposition) is simply a bonus. So, for as long as I keep getting value from writing, I’ll keep writing.
And then, when it’s time, I’ll stop.
Like all forms of creativity, it’s about showing up every day, doing your best, and then getting ready for tomorrow.
