I owe a big thank you to the women of Voca Lyrica and especially their artistic director and conductor, Ginny Kerwin.
They commissioned me to write a setting of “The Merry Christmas Polka” for SSA & piano 4-hands. It’s the third Andrews Sisters Christmas tune I’ve set for that voicing, and they were generous enough to program and sing the entire set this weekend as “Christmas With the Andrews Sisters.”
They presented a really beautiful concert, and performed all three of my pieces with musicality and great enthusiasm. It was a delight to write for them, and to be in the audience for the premiere.
