I’ve said before that December is the month that everyone remembers how much they love choirs. Something about vocal harmony speaks to us at this time of the year.
For me, vocal harmony is a year-round obsession. (I’m using the term vocal harmony group much more often than vocal jazz group these days, since I think it more it’s both more accurate and more inclusive of groups that wouldn’t identify as vocal jazz groups, but share DNA with vocal jazz). But I recognize that vocal harmony is particularly appealing this time of year – so I welcome those of you who don’t get to hear as much great vocal harmony the other eleven months of the year.
Here’s a playlist I’ve been building to get you started. It’s not comprehensive (particularly with some great vocal harmony Christmas albums missing from Spotify) but it’s a great place to start if you want to dig deep on vocal harmony in December.
