We’re back from a concert tour of Croatia and Italy! Here’s what we sang.
I’m a big believe in sharing concert programming. Our concert tour comprised three formal concerts and several informal performance opportunities (changes to sing in particularly outstanding spaces or venues).
Programming began a year ago to meet the requirements of venues, season, and of course the students. We program mostly sacred music because of the Catholic cathedral requirements, and completely a cappella because we’ve found it the easiest way to travel with a choir. We programmed an hour of music.
We began rehearsing the repertoire before school started with a day-long retreat in August, and then rehearsed roughly once per month since then. Most of the TTBB repertoire was rehearsed and performed by The Rockford Aces, as well.
The program contains a world premiere, Revery by Sean Ivory, which the Rockford Choirs commissioned. I programmed the TTBB repertoire, the rest was programmed by my wife, Mandy Scott.
