Some time ago, there was a house in the neighborhood that waited as long as possible for their first mow of the spring. Actually, they waited longer than possible. When they finally mowed the long grasses around their house, it left huge piles of clippings and shocked the lawn to the edge of death.
Sometimes we take too long to offer important feedback on the music we’re rehearsing. Maybe we’re too busy, maybe we’re focused on other important things, maybe we just haven’t noticed.
In any case, if we wait too long to do what needs to be done, what we end up with is a severe shock to the ensemble. When we’ve worked so hard to nurture, grow, and maintain our ensembles, do we really want to risk destroying it through simple negligence?
