I run four times a week – or try to.
But every run this week I’ve had trouble getting out the door. Lots to do perhaps, or maybe just the cold. And then this morning, clear as day, I heard a still small voice say, “You can’t do it.”
I did run today, and got all four runs this week. But it served as an important reminder that the negative voice is always there, and I don’t always hear it as a voice. I can internalize its message without realizing that it isn’t always speaking truth.
Do you hear your doubts? Do you internalize them as truth instead of opinions?
Next time I have trouble running, I’m going to remember that voice is there, and isn’t speaking truth. And with persistence I will identify and ignore the negative voice in any number of other situations.
