Taking Advantage of the Long Quiet

One of the best things I did in the Long Quiet was to take advantage of the lack of concerts to get more involved in my sons’ Scout Troop. Thought my eldest has been involved for four years, I have only rarely been able to attend a meeting (Aces rehearsals) and even less a campout (multiple separate concert seasons!).

It has been a blessing to be on campouts, to be regularly at meetings (I rearranged the Aces schedule this year) and, today, to join them both on a weeklong Scout Camp in the woods.

I know it will be tougher, in the post-Long Quiet return to “normal,” to continue my enthusiastic involvement. But I’m enjoying every minute that I get to encourage them in this journey.

It’s a COVID blessing I didn’t anticipate.

What about you? What did you get to do during the Long Quiet that you couldn’t do before? What is your unexpected COVID blessing?

(Don’t worry, I’ve planned ahead to make sure I’m publishing a new post every day.)
