We aren’t much for big relationship celebration days: Valentine’s Day, for certain, but even an anniversary. It might be a good day for a nice dinner, or fancy homemade chocolate dessert, but we aren’t likely to make a huge deal about it. We celebrate our partnership every day, which means we don’t feel the need to do so much on the “big” days.
I feel like that model for celebrating with ensembles is a good one, too.
Rather than putting massive weight on concert days, end-of-year celebrations, etc., celebrate something in every rehearsal! Celebrate the little things that make each chance to make music together special. Celebrate an in-tune chord, a first run through from memory, a wise musical insight from a singer. Celebrate when you have perfect attendance!
Make every day a celebration of the beautiful gift of singing together.
