The arc of the year is long and every year has its own successes and setbacks. But here are a few signposts of success to let you know you’re moving in the right direction.
- Your arms get tired midway through rehearsal, because you’re conducting more and playing parts less. (This is less noticeable if you have the luxury of an accompanist.)
- You can put your ensemble onstage to perform, while you watch from backstage.
- Your singers remember a little more, from week to week, so you don’t have to take quite so many steps into the past at the start of every rehearsal.
