It’s my end-of-school-year tradition to publish the repertoire my ensemble sang over the year. With my third year at GRCC in the books, here are the pieces Shades of Blue learned and performed.
Shades of Blue had six singers (2-1-1-2) in the fall semester and seven singers (2-2-2-1) in the winter (we lost one and added two over winter break). We had a consistent rhythm section for the year and were able to collaborate (*) with the GRCC jazz ensemble again this year. The year also featured one premiere arranged by me. Last year we started completely fresh with repertoire thanks to a large ensemble shift; this year we were able to keep a couple pieces in the repertoire for both semesters (#). Not everything in the winter repertoire was performed, thanks to an abrupt end to the semester in March, but we were able to salvage our hard work with some distance recording.
