Shades of Blue Repertoire List 2018-19

It’s my end-of-school-year tradition to publish the repertoire my ensemble sang over the year. With my second year at GRCC in the books, here are the pieces Shades of Blue learned and performed.

Shades of Blue had nine singers (2-2-3-2) in the fall semester and eight singers (2-2-2-2) in the winter. We had a consistent rhythm section for the year and were able to collaborate (*) with the GRCC jazz ensemble both semesters. The year also featured two premieres (+) – one written for the group by Phil Mattson and one arranged by me. Last year we started completely fresh with repertoire thanks to a large ensemble shift; this year we were able to keep a couple pieces in the repertoire for both semesters (#).
