Creativity is unpredictable. When every project is different on some level, it’s easy, when asked to take on a project, to say to yourself, “I don’t actually know how to do this.”
It’s true – I don’t. I’ve never done this before, precisely, and I don’t know it can be done or how I will do it.
But I can’t–I mustn’t–say that to collaborative partners. No one wants to hear that you don’t know how to do this.
So say “Yes, I can do that.” Then figure it out.
The truth is that, while you don’t know precisely how to do it, if you’ve done enough different projects, you will know how to figure out how to do it. And that’s enough.
