Säje is one of the best things happening in vocal music today.
When one of my friends posted a short clip of four women singing their new “Desert Song” around a pool several years ago, I quickly became obsessed. Obsessed with the blend, the tone, the harmony, the artistry. (Yes, I’ve written about them before.)
Thankfully, they seem to have become obsessed, too. They made their first performances just before the pandemic, released a bunch of virtual songs and videos while isolated, and became Grammy nominees over Zoom. They’ve spent the last two years writing, recording, and mixing their first album, and as of yesterday, it’s here!
Go listen to the debut album of a supergroup.
When multiple artists at the top of their game come together, we call it a supergroup. Think “We Are The World” or the ’92 USA Olympic basketball team, or The Three Tenors. It’s often the case that these types of projects are either plagued by ego, or find artists that can’t quite seem to get their gears to mesh.
That’s not the case with Säje. These are four vocal artists who are each brilliant and skilled individually, and who are clearly deeply committed to this collaboration and the art they are crafting together.
Go listen to their debut album. You won’t be sorry.

When you love them, you’ll want to buy some merch, or see them live (big wow!), and join them on Patreon!
I hope they get a little rest now that the album is out; and I can’t wait for what comes next.
