My ensemble, The Rockford Aces, has been working hard to build to today. These twelve young men, ranging from 9th to 12th grade, will present a full-length concert tonight in Rockford.
They have built the stamina and the repertoire to perform sixteen pieces in four sets, with music ranging from Mozart to a North American premiere, and in styles from including classical, pop, jazz, doo-wop, and Classic Rock.
There will be specialty acts both comic and musical, self-prepared. And we will have the first ever performance of an arrangement by one of the students in the group. (His first arrangement and the first-ever performance by the Aces of a student arrangement.)
I am incredibly proud of these great guys and the hard work they have put in. If you are able, I do hope you attend to see what they have accomplished this year.
As a bonus, tonight will be the first chance to get the CD I worked countless hours on, featuring recordings from the 2014 Rockford touring ensembles. They’ll also be having a reunion performance during the concert.
See you tonight at 7pm at Rockford High School! (Free, $5 suggested donation)
