Pros show up. Even when they’re sick. Even when they’ve got more on their plate than they can possibly (sanely) handle. Even when the weather is forbidding.
No matter what, pros show up.
There is much to be said for the amateur. Having an amateur spirit is something we should all strive for. But in the end, amateurs show up when conditions are favorable.
Pros show up. Period.
(Please note, we need both. And we should carve out plenty of space to support amateurs to participate in the arts and create favorable conditions for them to show up. But we need pros, too. And, most importantly, we need those making the transition from amateur to pro to learn to show up.)
