Programming Week: Jazz Theory

Ready to program something new next school year?

If you’re like me, a part of your brain is pretty much always thinking about selecting repertoire, and July is THE TIME to be programming for the next school year. With that in mind, I’ve been offering some ideas this week as you work on programming.

It’s my belief that more choirs should be singing vocal jazz, and that the most common reason given for not programming vocal jazz is the “difficult” theory. Well, I’m here to help with my book Jazz Theory for Choral Musicians – an approachable and friendly way to get a handle on vocal jazz. It’s available as an eBook through Anchor Music, or right here on my website for physical copies. For the next week, I’m giving a 10% discount on physical sales with the code ProgrammingWeek.
