Seen on Twitter: “One sure way to feel terrible is read a pitchfork review of music you love.”

A great way to feel less terrible is to love music that Pitchfork doesn’t even consider.

There are a dozen new albums I’ve listened to regularly in the first half of 2018: precisely none of them appear on Pitchfork. I suspect that is true, or nearly true, for many of the readers of this post. I hope you don’t feel bad about loving something different than the zeitgeist or the official arbiters of taste.

There’s no shame in loving what you love, whether it’s something no one else is heard of or the single “everyone” is listening to.
