Like many choral conductors, I’ve been finding more and more of my repertoire via digital-only retailers – independent publishers like MusicSpoke and Graphite as well as individual composers‘ sites.
I have long been frustrated with the quality of putting 8.5×11 photocopied octavos in my students’ hands. But with digital-only publishing, that’s been my only option until recently.
Last year, I had several digital octavos ordered and printed for me by the wonderful independent music retailer, Musical Resources. They pride themselves on their particular expertise in choral music, their attention to detail, and their personal relationships – and I’ve been impressed with all of the above. But I’ve been blown away by their growth in printing absolutely lovely octavos for me from digital sources. Finally, I’m able to pass out scores that look as beautiful as the ones from traditional publishers. Musical Resources is also usually able to print and ship these octavos the day I order them – much faster than the typical wait for warehouse delivery.
I’m not getting a cent from Musical Resources – I’m just passionate about the product they deliver and want you to know about it.
