It helps to know people who are on the same journey as you. Whatever the journey is – parenting, composing, teaching music – it makes a difference to know others going the same way.
It’s less important whether they’re ahead of you or behind you. They can mentor you, you can guide them. You can walk side by side.
To know you’re not alone. Having someone to lean on, to learn from, makes the journey more bearable.
This is one reason why I feel conferences, seminars, meetings, and gatherings of all types are so important to me along the way. It helps me find my fellow journeyers. To meet them, or reconnect with them.
