Just a quick reminder for the many friends working from home these days.
As someone who has worked primarily from home for many years, I have learned the hard way that a bigger challenge can be NOT working from home. When your workspace is your homespace, it’s easy to not have a hard line between work and home; you end up working, or kind of working all the time.
Take time to not work. Draw specific hours around your work so that you know when to walk away.
I’m writing this knowing that I have not been very good at this very much of the time. It’s a practice that I’m practicing, that’s for sure.
But I’m also writing this having just finished a family-wide Screen Sabbath, which became a work sabbath, too. Taking that time away was incredibly rejuvenating and is enabling me to start the week energized and ready to work from home again on Monday.
Within strict parameters, of course.
