Even the most tried-and-true workflow sometimes can feel tired. “I always do it this way” is a great way to build consistent success, and also a great way to feel stuck in a rut.
Recently I’ve been composing a new piece, and was gratified to be able to try a new process. By collaborating with my wife on lyrics, melodies, and part-writing, I’ve had an exciting, and totally different, experience composing. It’s been iterative, exciting, and fueled the imagination to go in directions neither of us would have gone on our own.
I’m hopeful that this this new process will become a regular part of my creative life – integrated among my other tried-and-true processes to create a more varied, productive, and creative output.
Have you found a new way to work and has it fueled new creations? What collaboration could you create to find new ideas?
