The Rockford Aces have come around to vinyl!
Our sixth album, Camaraderie, came out earlier this year to streaming services, but I always love to have something my students can hold in their hand. They can’t show their kids an mp3 in twenty years and have the same impact as with a physical object. For the first four albums I recorded with the Aces, that meant CDs…but CDs aren’t selling, so the fifth album was online only.
This time, with vinyl production costs fairly reasonable, I opted for a limited run of records. It does my collector heart good – when I think of the hours I spent flipping through bins of used jazz vinyl at Car City Records, I’m happy to have made something like that. And I’m of course so proud of the record, which includes original compositions and arrangements from friends and legends, including the four-movement “A Camaraderie Ensemble Suite” we premiered for our fifteenth anniversary.
As I said, it’s a limited edition of 100, with no expectation of a reprint. If you’d like to take home the Aces on vinyl, you can click here to order one!
