I’m currently reading Brené Brown’s new book, Rising Strong. It’s about the process about getting back up after failure. (Actually, I’ve been reading a lot of books about the value of failure lately.)
What has struck me as I go through this book is that she, a social scientist, leans heavily on music to define her emotional work.
Music is constant.
When we are celebrating, when we are struggling. When we need comfort, when we need energy.
We lean on music to outline our emotional state because it’s got a hardwire connection to emotional parts of our brain – maybe the strongest connection of any artistic medium.
That’s amazing, exciting, and humbling. What are you doing as a musician to honor the power that music wields in our emotional lives?
