We are all too busy, we are all trying to do more in less time than we used to.
So when you drop a ball, I think the three steps you should take are:
- Pick it up. Fix the problem, restart a stalled project, or repair broken pieces.
- Make a mea culpa. Apologize. Own the problem. Your own self.
- Move on. Don’t spend time recriminating or wallowing.
It wasn’t my plan to take the summer off of writing my weekly newsletters, and I admit a felt a little pang of guilt each week, knowing that there are some friends and colleagues who only read my daily writings via that medium. So I started back up this week, apologized to the recipients, made a promise to myself to prioritize this work harder, and moved on to the next thing on my ever-lengthening list. (If you subscribe, I promise to try my hardest to deliver something interesting to your inbox each week.
