Making Something

Like you, I have the unfortunate tendency to get into my own head.

I’m thinking about the things on my seemingly endless to-do list; I’m thinking about goals, dreams, plans, frustrations, disappointments, fears. I’m thinking.

For me, at least, the cure is to be making something. When I’m making something, I can let go of my busy mind, and focus on the creative task at hand.

In a week, I’m making music in rehearsal, I’m making new arrangements and compositions, I’m making part recordings and demos, I’m making drawings for my kids, I’m making bread and meals for my family. I’m making a little essay, every day.

Making is the cure to overthinking, and boy, do I need a dose of that cure every single day.
