Are you a few days or weeks removed from your choral year? It might be time to take an hour and look back.
A colleague pointed out to me that he had forgotten many of the high points of his year until he walked through his weekly calendar and reminded himself of the many wonderful things that happened.
Maybe you want to start thinking ahead and keeping a daily work gratitude journal–positive interactions, student successes, musical moments–but for now, walk backwards through your calendar.
My friend realized he had utterly forgotten a statewide award he had received for his philanthropic efforts!
What will you discover? What are you forgetting about your year?
We’re so busy looking forward, but it’s important and worthwhile to look back proudly on your year and all you’ve done.
