Most of the musicians I know are too busy to regularly take in live music they aren’t involved in.
It’s a good idea to prioritize it, at least once in a while.
Let someone else make the art. Let someone else stress, plan, organize, and prepare.
After a thrilling week spent preparing for and presenting the 2-hour Rockford Aces Concert on Friday, it was the perfect counterbalance to spend my Sunday evening at the Wicked National Tour. Seeing the high level performance and knowing I had nothing to do but to take it in was lovely.
Listening to recordings isn’t quite the same. Watching choir performances on YouTube definitely isn’t the same.
Invest time, money, and energy in letting someone else make the art.
