I’m watching the 50th Anniversary Saturday Night Live Special. It’s remarkable to see the amazing performers who started on SNL, and to consider the impact they’ve had on comedy. SNL’s legacy is secure.
But if you listen to interviews with SNL cast members, they will all talk about the intense urge to just put on the best show they could each Saturday. They weren’t worrying about a legacy, they were worrying about doing today’s best show.
