When you start out, you want use everything you know how to do in everything you create. Admittedly, you don’t know how to do that many things, but still.
Call it Kitchen Sink Creating. Your creative works are overfull of everything you know how to do.
Later, you’ll find that you don’t need to use everything. As your list creative moves gets longer, you’ll start using fewer of them in any particular creative work – because it’s not about the moves, it’s about what the work needs, and which creative moves help you fulfill that need.
You won’t have to say everything you know how to say, because you know you’ll have another chance to say something different tomorrow.
As you explore creative expression, don’t shy away from your Kitchen Sink era. It’s part of the journey, and will help you later to choose more judiciously.
