JKMF

December.

It is an epic time for choir directors everywhere: concerts, gigs, caroling, tree-lightings, festival planning, and more. It’s simply the time of year everyone wants to hear a choir. In Rockford, we also have just cast the musical, so there are also 3-hour musical rehearsals every day after school.

Add to that the usual buzz of December, with Christmas shopping and family commitments, and you have a sprint until Dec. 25.

My advice to choir directors everywhere:

I learned it at the low point in my middle son’s acid reflux (age 6 months) when the days and nights ran together into a blur of sleeplessness. I formed this expression to urge myself onward during the tough moments.

Don’t worry about excelling. JKMF.
Don’t worry about changing the world. JKMF.
Don’t worry about how it’s all going to get done. JKMF.

Wishing you all strong legs to carry you forward, and a comfortable couch when it’s all over.
