How to Be Ready When Illness Strikes

When you’re blindsided by illness at an inconvenient time, you’ll be glad you followed these simple steps ahead of time.

  1. Build autonomy into your ensemble from day 1. Make sure they can survive without you.
  2. Build extra prep time into your rehearsal schedule, so you’re not slammed at the last minute.
  3. Communicate clearly and as soon as possible.
  4. Remember the unofficial Rockford Choirs motto: Flexibility is a lifeskill.
  5. Don’t freak out!
  6. Don’t. freak. out.

And if at all possible,

7. Be married to the best choral musician you know.

I’m not in front of the Aces for their three concerts Wednesday and Thursday. But I’m truly not worried. I trust them. They’re ready to thrive and grow. And I’ve got Mandy on the scene. These 5 days of isolation will be over in no time.
