How Do You Do This?

One of the most vital questions in your arsenal should be, “How do you do this?”

Ask it whenever you see a fellow music educator do an event/fundraiser/activity that you don’t do.

Ask it when it’s one that you do do!

You find out how others do it, what they do better, what you do better. You get ideas you can bring back to your own program, or you learn enough about activities to know that they won’t work in your context.

Ask, “How do you do this?” as often as possible to as many colleagues as you can.

And answer that question as often as it is asked of you, as honestly as you can.

This is how we get better and how our profession gets better.
