Hard-Working High Schoolers

Don’t miss your chance on Monday night to see some amazing young performers in a performance to remember.

The Jimmy Awards brings together dozens of high school performers from across the country for a week of rehearsals, masterclasses, meetings, and more. It culminates in a performance on Broadway at the Minskoff Theatre – usually the home to The Lion King but taken over by the Jimmies for the evening.

It’s ostensibly a competition, with big prizes for the winners, but it’s more appropriate to think of this performance as a celebration of the incredible level of performance being achieved by high school students across the country. This, of course, is also a celebration of the amazing training being given by high school music and theater educators.

As you watch, please watch for and cheer on my student, Eric Liu. He sang for three years in the Rockford Aces and qualified for this opportunity by being nominated for his performance in Rockford High School’s Crazy For You and then in May winning the Michigan version of the Jimmy Awards, called the Sutton Foster Ovation Awards.

You can tune in live to the Jimmy Awards to watch all of the amazing performances (including emcee Ben Platt!) on Monday, June 24, at 7:30pm.
