“It is better to give than receive” – so goes a proverb popular this time of year.
And I really believe it’s true. It’s been a thrill this Christmas season to watch my sons really come alive with the joy of finding a gift for someone they love.
Prioritizing others above ourselves should be what we all aspire to in our daily actions – not just on December 25, but throughout the year.
And nowhere do I see the spirit of giving more consistently demonstrated than among public school teachers. The teachers I know give, give, give to their students, their colleagues, their communities. They truly carry the spirit of Christmas throughout the year.
Thank you, teachers, for your every day giving to me, to my children, and to all the students you care for. As a society, we should strive to be more like you, and to do better by you.
