Forgivable

Not even a great performance is perfect. So what is forgivable?

The truth is, almost anything. A sour note? Sure. A mistaken lyric? No problem. A late light cue, sound cue, set change? No problem.

We’ll forgive almost anything provided 2 things:

  1. The performers are doing their best to deliver a well-prepared, excellent performance.
  2. They are telling the truth.

Truth and excellence are the essential underpinnings of any great performance, and with those two things, any details that don’t land are easily forgivable.
