Flash Mob Friday #3

It’s time for my third Flash Mob Friday! Gigging musicians and artists have been and will continue to be disproportionately hit by the COVID-19 closings, so each Friday I’m going to point you towards a musician, artist, or organization I think is worth your support. It’s my hope that together we can support artists at a time of great need.

The only rule for participation is that you can’t give disproportionately, either. It’s about the community coming together to support artists, not about any one person being a benefactor.

In this case, you have a few artists to consider supporting this week. All of them have lost gigs and other opportunities in recent and upcoming weeks; all of them are worthy of your listening.

AND, in this case, all of them are former students in the choirs of Rockford High School. I vouch for all of the fine musicians below and listen regularly myself.

Virtually all of the links below have “name your price” options for digital releases. Throw a couple of dollars their way to support these artists, and you’ll also get to enjoy their music!

FADE (Marley Ferguson) – Buy the most recent album, Fall in Love.

Bradley Sinclair – Buy his new single, Along the Way, on iTunes.

Barking Oaks (Blake McWatters) – Buy his two recent songs on Bandcamp.

Political Lizard – Order their new album, out today, Buttercup Bloodroot. They have a music video from the new album that features the RHS Chamber Singers.

Anna Kurtz – Order her recent release, Chapter One: (be)longing.

Hannah Laine – Order one of her recent releases as a soloist or with Earth Radio.
