The hardest part of the creative process, oftentimes, can be finding a way in.
Sometimes a creative project can feel totally locked up – windowless and doorless. You have to take the time to look closely, as often as it takes, to find an entry point into the project. It could be a melody, or a groove, or a step, or a line. Something, anything, that gives you a glimpse inside the project. Then, follow it until you can see your way through.
Of course, not every creative project has a way in. Sometimes, no matter how long you look, you never find a way in. Don’t worry, there will be another project, and you’ll be able to find your way into that one.
