Everything Right

Sometimes you do everything right and still get the wrong result. My son did everything responsibly this morning to get on the bus and to school, but owing to a string of strange circumstances, he didn’t make it to school until second period. He sat waiting at the high school for me to pick him up.

In the heat of that sort of moment, do you blame yourself? I must have done something wrong. It’s my fault.

It’s easy to do, and for many of us, it’s naturally to look selfward when something goes wrong. It’s not necessarily a bad motivation, and certainly it can be healthier than always pointing the blame elsewhere.

But sometimes, no one is to blame. Sometimes you do everything right and still get the wrong result.

Recognize these situations, breathe, and release blame.
