Even When It’s Inconvenient

Here’s the difference between bad, good, and great leaders.

Bad leaders, when faced with a choice, prioritize themselves over the people they lead.

Good leaders prioritize the people they lead.

Great leaders find ways to prioritize the people they lead even when it’s inconvenient to themselves.

There are limits, of course. There must be limits to how far you go in caring for the people you lead. But I think the best leaders I have observed consistently go above and beyond in service to the people in their care, and they do it almost without thinking of whether it will affect them.
