When you finish a job, are you energized or drained? Could you keep going?
It’s a good indicator of which direction to move in your life. It doesn’t matter how “talented” you are at something: if you are wasted at the end of the day, then it will cost you more than it pays.
Last night I had my first Rockford Aces rehearsal in three weeks and dragged myself in, 14 hours into a long day. Two hours later, I bounced out of rehearsal, barely touching the ground. Being with those students, working together to make music, gave me far more energy than I spent.
That’s how I know I’m in the right place.
