Do The Dishes

There’s almost always dishes to be done.

This is my internal metaphor for what to do when I don’t know what to do. Do the dishes.

Sometimes the project that has my brain occupied doesn’t have any clear next steps. Do the dishes.

Sometimes I’m waiting for an email or call. Do the dishes.

Sometimes I haven’t figured out what comes next in the writing project. Do the dishes.

Sometimes I just need time to think. Do the dishes.

Maybe it’s a walk around the block or vacuuming or playing your favorite Bach prelude. Doesn’t matter. Just matters to have something.
