Concert “Hangover”

The other side of the concert.

I spent Saturday feeling utterly wiped – to the point of taking a long nap, which I almost never do. It was only late in the day that I realized I was suffering from a concert “hangover.”

Hadn’t had one in 15 months.

The energy that it takes for the planning, logistics, and execution of a concert is considerable. I don’t think it took many years into my career before I learned to anticipate the letdown afterwards, and build in some time accordingly. But in the 15 months since my last concert, my subconscious had at least slightly forgotten how to handle the day after a big concert.

If you haven’t had your first concert back yet, be sure you are consciously preparing yourself for the day after. Because, like me, you might have forgotten a little bit.
